Cutting the Cord
One of the biggest questions we get about switching to fiber is “Can I still watch my shows?” The answer is yes! See below for ways to replace your bundled service and cut the cord from cable for good.
Missing your bundle?
If you’re wanting to switch to fiber internet but you’re missing your TV and phone bundle, USI has you covered. With internet-based phone powered by Ravon for $20 a month, phone has never been so simple. With all of the features that you need in a home phone service, you can even use your existing phone and phone number.
While USI doesn’t provide a streaming service, we can walk you through everything you need to know about cutting the cord.
It's time to cut the cord.
We know how confusing streaming can be. There are so many options out there. Cable seems simple, but streaming live TV without the cable can be too. And it’ll save you money every month. Not sure where to start? Keep on reading!
All you need to start is an internet connection. With USI Fiber, 500 Mbps will be plenty to stream all of your favorite shows. And with no contracts, you can change your speed at any time if you decide that you want even more speed.
Next, you need a smart TV or a streaming device. Most likely, if you’ve bought your TV within the last couple of years, some sort of streaming device will be built in. If not, you can purchase a streaming device for a one-time cost. We recommend a Roku because of the simplicity of its interface. If you would like to shop around, there are many other options out there, including Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Cube, and more.
Once you’re ready to make the leap and start streaming, you will need a streaming service. If you’re looking to watch local sports, news, and your favorite TV channels, we recommend YouTube TV. It’s easy to use and they have Live TV from 70+ channels. They allow for you to have 3 simultaneous streams with 6 different accounts. The other awesome thing about YouTube TV is that they offer unlimited cloud DVR for no additional charge.
Of course, if you want to supplement your Live TV with even more, Hulu and Netflix are great, with many TV shows and movies to choose from—including original content that you can find only on those platforms.
To review, there are 3 simple things you need:
- Get the right internet connection with USI Fiber.
- Smart TV or streaming device – we recommend Roku.
- Streaming Service – YouTube TV is great!
We hope this eliminated the confusion, but if you still have questions, feel free to reach out to us and we can help you out.
